Picnic tableware

Lovely cream and green Bakerlite and Bandalasta started to emerge in the thirties, and set the scene for later mid-century plastics. By the fifties and sixties there were all sorts of plastics available for picnicking and camping: From polythene-type plastics, through to the harder, brittler plastics or melamine.

The colours are a clue to age. By the fifties, pastel pinks and blues were emerging with brighter colours making an appearance by the sixties. In the seventies, the colours of beige, avocado and brown were only enlivened by orange.
