Thermometers, presses & funnels

The boil temperature for jam and preserve making is crucial for the right set. We have some great vintage brass ones by Brannen, although our favourite is an unusual white enamel one made by Taylors.

Bottling and canning was a favourite method of preserving until freezers were invented, and Brannen made long tins thermometers which could reach to the bottom of a large Kilner jar.

To pack the fruit and vegetables soundly, a canning or bottling press would be used.

Funnels are great for cleanly pouring the jam into preserving jars. Sieves & strainers can be found in our Sieves, strainers & ladles range.
