Bakerlite & Plastic Jelly Moulds
Whilst most plastic jelly moulds started to emerge in the sixties, Beetleware ones were available from the twenties and thirties. Shapes replicated the ones produced in aluminium which largely ceased to be produced from the fifties.
We are probably most used to Beetleware in vintage picnic sets, but they also produced dinky little moulds for jellies and blancmanges. We have a lovely trio of blue marbled ones and a subtle-coloured harlequin set. Another big plastics brand also produced jelly moulds: You may be familiar with Embee as we have anything from their flour dredgers to armchair trays on the website.
The plastic bunny mould was a creation of the sixties as well, being produced in red or baby blue. By the seventies they were all the obligatory orange.
