Hand tools
Every cook needs a few vintage tools for their kitchen garden, whether it be for planting seeds or digging up the fruits of your labour.
Tools from the early part of the 20th century up until the fifties would be steel with wooden handles - mostly turned. Some would have painted handles, most commonly in a tan colour.
By the fifties, the blades and prongs were being painted red or green, but by the sxties were being replaced by stainless steel which didn't rust.
To keep your non-stainless steel tools rust-free, just treat them with boiled linseed oil and they will last for generations more !
