Biba
The iconic Biba emporium in London's Kensington High Street was where these jars were sold. Oozing with Biba style they offered the Biba officienado the opportunity to extend the look and the ethos into the kitchen.
These simple brown jars could almost be from the chemist's store, but applied with the Biba gold typography they became part of the Biba lifestyle.
The jars came in two sizes, large and small and covered the kitchen basics such as coffee, tea, suger, flour and biscuits. But quite why anyone would need such as large jar for tea bags mystifies us !
Biba also had a food hall in the basement of their store selling about 350 own brands all packaged in brown and gold.
