Heirloom Green & Blue
Heirloom was Hornea's first extensive range of tableware and was first introduced in 1967. Designed by John Clappison, in its heyday it was so popular that the factory could not keep up with demand. As a result, china and department stores were rationed !
The range encompassed just about every item of kitchenware and tableware that the sixties and seventies family could need. From storage jars through to plates, cups and saucers, egg cups and casserole dishes. Produced in brown, green and blue colourways, brown was by far the most well-known.
Despite the popularity of Hornsea pottery, by the end of the seventies its profits had plummeted and it went from crisis to crisis until the receivers went in, in 2000.
