Carnival
If ever there was an example of post Festival of Britain modernity, it was Pyrex's Carnival range. A perfect palette of pastel yellow, aqua and pink - although the latter made way for a piercing coral - on a base of milk glass.
Although they kept the traditional round casserole dishes and pudding basins, more sweeping curves were to be found in their mixing bowls, vegetable dishes and sauce boats.
It is believed that the Cinderella mixing bowls with a pourer and handle were named after Disney's film of the same name which was re-released in 1957, the same year as the design.
Our favourites are the custard cups or ramekin dishes which can be used for souffles, jellies, cupcakes and so much more.
