Tala Colourware
Tala had been producing kitchenware for about 60 years before they realised that every housewife wanted bright modern accessories for their post-war labour-saving kitchens. Based on the cream and green tinware they had been producing for years, they introduced their Matched Colourware in a range of vivid colours which could be applied on all manner of items.
Their catalogues of the day not only showed their canisters, bread bins and cake tins, but egg and vegetable racks, food safes, pedal bins and shoe-cleaning boxes. They prided themselves on offering good value for money, often boasting they didn't spend much on advertising !
Their key colourways were red, blue and yellow combined with white, although they did produce some in ivory with a chrome trim.
Our favourite item of the moment is a two tier rack with six yellow and white canisters with tea, coffee, sugar, rice, sultanas and raisins.
