Egg wedgers & slicers
Egg slicers are not just great little gadgets for easily slicing boiled eggs for that picnic favourite, egg and cress sandwiches but they are terrific for garnishing buffets and other food platters.
The wire cutters work just like a cheese cutter but with every slice even and without the yoke. With each slice decorated with a few parsley leaves they adorned many a sixties or seventies cocktail party.
Aluminium ones were produced by wellknown kitchen gadget manufacturers like Tala and Germany's Westmark, whilst Hygiene produced grea Bakerlite ones in pastel shades. By the sixties and seventies, the prefered material was plastic.
A handy chrome egg wedger tool was developed by Tala to produce six wedges in one swift action.
