Household management books

Mrs Beeton did not neglect household management either, with numerous editions of her reknown Household Management. Yet by far the most comprehensive encyclopaedia of how to manage your home and servants came from a beautifully-crafted four-volume set by H C Davidson.

After war time austerity, the demand for a modern, bright home was driven by books which portrayed G plan furniture, bright textiles and labour-saving kitchens. Happy to give a steer to the home-conscious was again the Good Housekeeping Institute.
